“We’re LATE!” I barked, it was like that scene in four weddings and a funeral, and then eschewed expletives that frankly don’t deserve a place on a charity newsletter. “We’re not going to ******* make it! And I know you’re drunk” yes, this dear readers is what happens when you do events with your friends. Late, lost and driving with two hungover ‘friends’ this was my induction to 12in12 event numero uno.
After much frantic calling between myself and (super) star Katie who obviously was well organised and already at the event, she managed to persuade the registration people to stay open for little ol’ late me.

We made it! Grabbed race chip and bolted to start line where some serious looking duathloners were foaming at the mouth to get going. “erm…we’re meant to do the 10k” I meekly said to the autharitive looking Human Race employee. ‘”Ha, they’ve gone!” was the response. Luckily, he said we could also go and bam we went.

Surrounded by stunning countryside I commented to Bessie Mate, something to regret later, “not that difficult/don’t know why the race is called Wildm…” then I saw hills, hills and guess what dear reader? More bleeding hills. It hurt. A. Lot. The scenery was stunning and due to starting the race 15min late the three of us were running on our own in this little piece of wilderness. Nothing but your own thoughts whirring around on the reasons for running this, the things I want to achieve for HOPEHIV and how greatful I am to be doing this in a team of 12in12ers and wonderful mates that don’t mind being dragged along.

After the race I was thankful for flat ground, two days later and I’m hungry for more hills! I think prayer will be answered in the shape of my next event Hell in the Middle. For this I’m going to make it to the start on time.

What's that?

52km? Sorry did u say 52 km? Why yes I did. Yes I abso-effing-lutely said 52km or 32 miles. Oooh yeah I did cycle that on Saturday (yeah not quite up to Ultra Marathons yet).

The day was a stunner-crisp, sunny and my mind was whirring. Grabbed an old friend of mine then cycled around Richmond Park where there are actual Bambis. Beautiful deer living wild ish - there are cars n bikes in the park so think of it like a streetwise Bambi.

The hills are a killer that u just experience in central London <- go figure and often whilst cycling up said hill I felt it'd be quicker to walk backwards but cycled I did (52km if you didn't kno!). Then made it over to Clapham completely late for www.the12in12.com first public event which was Bikram yoga. We raised a phenom amount just shy of £1,000!!!!

I've got my first event this wknd so am pretty excited but apprehensive because it has turned oh-so-cold and the run will be over bogs and rivers brrrrrrr

Anything to stop this mind whirring tho. Have a good Monday. Train hard

Tour Guide

Took Bessie on the tourist route round the fair capital today we took in the Thames, Big Ben and Westminster, Buckingham Palace x3 Royal Parks and the stunner that are the Selfridges windows.

Yes it was an epic run. Yes I hated every mo & yes I was carrying a bag the size of a two yr old.

However have u ever had those moments when u think u are doing terribly, when you're pulling everyone else back and when ur embarrasses about ur results? Well I was having those feelings with this run. The hill runs on Tues & my lower body exercises have meant my legs felt full and heavy (full of the lactic not the energy) and I felt like I was a donkey plodding today. HOWEVER dear little blog readers I completely deceived myself! When I got back to the office and checked out the stats (thank u Run Meter) I noticed that actually I ran 6miles at c4.30min per km and 4 miles at about 5min per km. Well GEE GODS I dunno about u but that is fast to me!!

Woohoo! Goes to show I guess that what you think and what is reality aren't always one and the same. Made me think for the rest of the day; I wonder where else in my life that statement is true?

Epics!!

Ran with the girls today - ah my favourite runs. Banter, support, enthusiasm and focus couldn't honestly think of a better group to run with. Albeit we all run off sometimes together, sometimes not (like today) but the end and the lead up to the run is 100% worth the pain. 13km worth of pain in 1hr 8mins.http://j.mp/xz253X
I wont upload the picture of the blister which is now larger than my toe, because frankly, you may be reading this over lunch or breakfast or dinner.
The girls!

Anyways..the musings over the run included:
How many bridges are there along the Thames
I must be running 1km per min
Hope my blister is alright
How does that bouncy runner run so bouncy
Have I paid my electricity bill
Will I raise the money for www.the12in12.com challenge
Hmm, not sure two plasters are doing much for my blister
Why can't I cheer all my friends & family up when they're down
Wow, doesn't London look so different at each bridge
What is the second verse in that Que Sera Sera
When Kanye West moves to London, will we be friends
How is my little sis getting along
Oh no my toe really hurts

Work day

First day of work at my new job completed woohoo. Frankly it's a bit of a minor miracle a.) I made it thru the day & b.) I even went for this run http://share.abvio.com/147d/0854/4d47/3b34/Runmeter-Run-20120103-1831.kml 10k at a conversation pace after only 2hrs sleep.

Thank God for Cat & Emma who chatted all the way round. Emma had sped off when we took this pic & we really bolted after her to catch up. Glad it's over that's for sure!
